Milestones are available to free and Premium users. StudyChime keeps three totals in local Chrome extension storage and unlocks milestones as they grow.
What counts
- Matched studies increase when a newly detected study passes the filter profile that was active at the time.
- Successful alerts increase when at least one enabled alert method succeeds for a newly detected study.
- Verified monitoring time counts only between checks that confirm monitoring is enabled and a signed-in Prolific studies page is open and responding.
Verified monitoring time is not general browsing history or a record of computer use.

Local progress
StudyChime stores only the totals and permanent local unlocks needed for Milestones. It does not create an activity timeline, retain additional study titles, researcher names, descriptions, or URLs, or send Milestone progress to StudyChime.
Milestones are separate from the anonymised Trends records retained for up to one year. Clearing Trends does not reset Milestone totals or unlocked Milestones, and importing a Trends CSV does not add to them.
Keep progress when moving browsers
The non-sensitive JSON backup includes Milestone totals and unlocks. Export a backup from Settings → Your data before moving browser profiles or computers.
Removing StudyChime or clearing its local extension data removes locally held Milestone progress unless you previously saved a JSON backup.
