StudyChime Premium keeps filters and schedules together in profiles. A profile is one saved set of match rules and alert times, so switching profiles changes both together.
Manage profiles
Open Settings → Filters & schedule. From there you can:
- create a profile
- duplicate or rename a profile
- customise its filters and schedule
- switch between profiles
- select Save & activate profile to save and apply both its filters and schedule
- delete profiles while keeping at least one profile available
StudyChime includes four starting profiles:
- My preferences — initially allows anything available, ready for you to customise
- Anything available — no filtering or schedule restrictions
- High hourly rate — starts with £12 and $12 hourly-rate minimums
- Short studies — starts with a 15-minute maximum completion time
When you create or duplicate a profile, it becomes the profile being edited. Saving activates it. If you delete the selected profile, StudyChime moves to another remaining profile; the final remaining profile cannot be deleted.
Available match rules
Each profile can set:
- minimum reward in GBP
- minimum reward in USD
- minimum hourly rate in GBP
- minimum hourly rate in USD
- minimum places available
- minimum completion time
- maximum completion time
- included keywords
- how included keywords are matched
- excluded keywords
A numeric value of 0 disables that minimum or maximum.
GBP and USD are separate
GBP and USD thresholds are independent. StudyChime does not convert currencies.
For example, you can allow studies paying at least £3 while requiring at least $5 for studies shown in USD. The GBP threshold is used for GBP studies and the USD threshold for USD studies.
Keyword matching
Enter included or excluded words and phrases separated by commas or new lines.
- Any included word — at least one included keyword must appear (an “any included keyword” match).
- Every included word — all included keywords must appear.
- Always exclude these words — the study is rejected if any excluded keyword appears.
Excluded keywords take precedence. For example, with included keywords AI, interview and excluded keyword camera, an AI study mentioning a camera is rejected even though it matched an included keyword.
Keyword matching uses text visible on the open Prolific studies page, such as the title and other rendered study details when available.
Combine filters and schedules
A study must pass every enabled match rule in the active profile, and its alert must be allowed by that profile’s schedule. This is why filters and schedules are saved and activated as one profile rather than as unrelated settings.
Filters decide which visible studies match. Schedules decide when matching alerts may be sent. Neither changes what Prolific displays.
Preview filters safely
Select Preview matches to check the currently visible studies against the rules you are editing. The preview shows how many visible studies match or are excluded, with common reasons.
Previewing does not save or activate the profile and does not permanently record the preview results.
Important limitations
Filters only decide whether StudyChime should notify you. They do not reserve, accept, complete, or submit studies, change your Prolific account, or guarantee that a study will still have space when you open it.
